Description
Since 1908 the De Riso family has been running a bar/tobacconist's shop in the town's main square; they have become famous in the whole Amalfi coast by making ice creams and lemon granita in the summertime. After studying as cook and working as chef in the best hotels of the Amalfi Coast, in 1989, at the age of 23, Salvatore De Riso realized that confectionery was his passion. He started the confectionery "Sal De Riso" on the sea front of Minori and a handicraft workshop at Tramonti. In a few years his confectionery became one of the most important and better known, both locally and nationwide. Many people go to Minori in order to buy his specialties, linked to the traditions, scents and tastes of his land. There is only one secret for this big success: the huge passion, especially combined with the quality of products, chosen with great attention among the most specialized firms.
He has attended the best confectioner's qualifying courses and in 1994 was the first confectioner from Southern Italy to be admitted in the prestigious Academy of the Italian Master Confectioners.
